I have found so many women to be STOKED about this week, so I thought that periodically, on great weeks like this one, I would share my "Stoked on" lists with you.
This week, I am Stoked on:
- The Actresses of the Golden Globes: I loved the Golden Globes last night because WOMEN KILLED IT! My favorite category last night was Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy - the deck was STACKED! I especially loved seeing nominations for Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin), and Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish), especially. Award shows often lack diversity, but these ladies together make a colorful, fabulous, powerhouse of a group. Tracee Ellis won the Golden Globe for her performance in Black-ish, and there was nothing "ish" about her speech. It was magic.
- Meryl Streep: Speaking of The Golden Globes, The Queen of Globes deserves her own category. Meryl stole the show last night, just as she does every. single. year. If any of you follow me on Twitter, you know that I nearly fainted during her Cecil B. DeMille Award acceptance speech. The whole speech was utter perfection, but the highlight was Meryl saying,
-Michelle Obama: The First Lady began her farewell speech with a motherly command to her audience saying, "Rest yourselves. We're almost at the end". Cue tears.
President Obama has a tough act to follow. The President will be giving his farewell speech tomorrow, and while I cannot wait to hear what he has to say, I still think that I'm most excited to see Michelle up there with him.
- Juliet Litman: You all know that I love The Bachelor just as much as I love sports which is why I love Juliet Litman. Litman is a managing editor at The Ringer. Litman can throw down in conversations about the NBA, but she is also well-versed in all things Bachelor and hosts her own podcast - Bachelor Party - in which she recaps Bachelor episodes each week with a down-to-earth, sportscaster's approach (and special guests!). Check it out! I think you'll love it.
- Terry Saban - I really hope that, if you're not watching The Bachelor right now, you're watching The College Football Playoff Championship.
Roll Tide! And sorry if you're a Clemson fan.
Personally, I love Nick Saban and, though I don't know a whole lot about her, I know that I would love Terry Saban too. I recently read a sweet story about Coach and Terry, who have been married for 45 years - in Hollywood Life, of all places. An article in Heavy also convinced me that Coach Saban would not be nearly as great without a great woman behind him. Per a quote in the acclaimed film, My Big Fat Greek Wedding,
